PROTEST LONDON WILL BE BACK IN LONDON TO PROTEST IN THE SUMMER

PLEASE SUBSCRIBE TO OUR NEWS LETTER TO BE KEPT UPTO DATE ON WHEN THE NEXT CANNABIS PROTEST WILL BE. THIS SHOULD BE IN THE SUMMER OF 2010

Protest London went to Whitehall on 25th June 2008 and there Pinky and others handed in a 5000+ signature petition to 10 Downing Street. Pinky also smoke a spliff on number 10 downing streets doorstep in protest against these unjust laws (as pictured at bottom of this page)This was answered by the usual bulk standard reply letter.

Then Jacqui Smith (former Home Secretary) gave a speech saying to all the users of cannabis to go and get more help from the NHS or face 5 years in prison which was the case before the re-classification. When we heard this she hurt a lot of people like my husband Pinky who has it in writing from his consultant that all NHS treatments have failed him.

So Protest London went off to her home town of Redditch, to let the people of her home town know what she thinks of sick and disabled people. We had music there by Ras Bruno and a great day was had by all. Again no response from herself or even her office, shock!.

Protest London was then invited up to the UK Hemp Show in London to show people what we had done so far. There we met so many great and knowledgeable people.

The reclassification was going ahead due to Jacqui Smith ignoring the ACMD report. This is the Advisory Council for the Misuse of Drugs act who advises the government. They came to the conclusion that Cannabis should stay as a class C drug. Jacqui Smith thought she knew better and ignored them and reclassified cannabis to a class B. Due to her decision the chairman of the ACMD resigned due to his disgust at her actions.

So Protest London did again what it does best and called the next protest on Parliament Square London two days after the reclassification came in. It was on a Wednesday when we knew the PM would have to drive past us to go to PMs Question time. He got full view of us as we were right on the corner he had to go past. Again a great day was had by all.

Next was the global marijuana march 2nd May 2009. Protest London was unable to do a march due to public liability insurance so decided to do a static protest again back where we started, Whitehall opposite Downing Street. We had a new addition to the team which was the prison cell (Mostly funded by the Legalise Cannabis Alliance) which we thought would get the message across that we don’t deserve to be in prison for wanting to be pain free. This day gave us more problems with police due to the changes in the law. All other protest ran really well with the police and we were always allowed to medicate as long as it was kept discreet so everyone was happy. But this time in May the police were not as understanding, but thanks to a certain someone’s baking the day went on with lots of smiles and happy days.

Since this we have had a lot of personal issues to battle with, which forced Protest London into Weymouth. This was done with the local police having full written notice like every protest we do. The only trouble with Weymouth is that the people there are very uneducated on Cannabis and its medical properties and were very unwilling to see proof and listen to reason.

Our solicitor wrote to the CPS requesting that they look again at this case, and with 1,400+ signatures sent to them stating that it wasn’t in the public interest to prosecute Pinky. Our solicitor asked them to dismiss this case. Well we have just heard from them and they don’t  care about petition, and are carrying on wasting people time and money, so Pinky is next in court on the 13th October to be given a Crown  Court date.

On the 13th October Pinky arrives in court after a long wait he went into court where he was given a date of the 13th November for Crown Court. Pinky tried asking the magistrate questions which they could not answer and left the court not being given any bail sheet, no paper work stating when or where he had to attend next.

On Friday 13th November 2009 Pinky arrived at Crown Court with his Cannabis spray (Sativex) on him which he used in court. Pinky had been advised by his solicitor (Mr Richard Parry) to give a plea of not-guilty. After getting the judge to call him Mr Jim Pinky Starr he had no choice but to put in his plea of not-guilty. He was then given a date of the 26th January for the trial to start.

That is when the fight will begin, there are many arguments which are going to be raised during this trial, and I personally am intrigued to see Mr Parry at work as he is highly recommended.

Pinky needs everyone’s support more than ever now and on the 26th January 2010, so please if anyone can make the trail date it would be great to see you there at  9.30 at Dorchester Crown Court, see you there.

please come back to be kept upto date. Please take time to look at our donate page, we need help with the funding of future protests so we can continue to protest against these unjust cannabis laws. There will be another protest in 2010 so please help to spread the word.
